End of Summer and the Junction “Big Bonanza”

This Saturday (the 20th) is the West Seattle Junction Association’s annual Big Bonanza.  Merchants in and around the Alaska Junction will be featuring quite a few sales and specials for the end of the summer and going back to school.  Given that it’s a bonanza and the western theme that goes with it, we’ll have our smoked chicken barbecue sandwiches back for another weekend (barbecue being as hunger inducing as the roasting of duck…which Phil just finished this afternoon).

The Junction Association holds several events each year, and sponsors such things as our Art Walk, the summer series of Outdoor Movie Nights, and weekend events like our Summer Fest.  I’d recommend checking out their calendar for events in and around the area.

The Bonanza also tolls the nearing end of the summer.  I’ve mentioned some of the product changes that are likely before- stone fruit comes fully into season, apples will follow and before you know it, we’re into fall!  If you work in retail though, you know one of the other tell-tale signs of a seasonal change- turnover in your service staff.  This period is always a little bit hectic for us.  We employ a lot of younger staff, many of whom are or will be in classes this September (some have left for school already).  We’ve also brought on a few new staff members, and they are catching on fast (and there’s a pretty steep learning curve here!).  So if you see a new face, be sure to say hi.
