While they don’t currently have a blog, the following link is to the bakery of Chef Leaman’s third teammate in the 2005 Bread and Baking World Championships, Jeff Yankellow.  If you’re ever down near Phoenix, AZ, you definitely need to check them out!

The Seattle Sketcher is a community column written and illustrated by Gabriel Campanario of the Seattle Times. Mr. Camparario spent some time with us, which is how we discovered is column, and we discovered some great local content.

We first found this blog from a comment by Gale in ours. Beautiful photography of delicious looking food, and recipes too!  A must see for those who enjoy photography or love to bake at home.

For the lovers of seafood, sushi and Japanese cuisine, Mashiko’s in West Seattle should be a destination.  Not only is the food delicious, but Chef-Owner Hajime recreated their menu to be the first all-sustainably fished menu in Seattle. You’ll end up hungry for great sushi to enjoy with friends, and learning a lot about sustainability in the seafood industry.

Also in Minneapolis is 2008 Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie team captin, Solvieg Tofte.  Her day job is head baker at  Turtle Bread Company, and on the weekends she has her own bread and pastry line at the Kingsfield Farmers Market.  Details on where and when you can find her bread are here:

Below is the blog of Penny De Los Santos, a senior contributing photographer for both Saveur and National Geographic. Her blog is full of photos and stories about people and food.  A recent, wonderful discovery.

There are numerous good farmers’ markets around town, and we in West Seattle have our own.  Sundays, 10 am ‘till 2 pm, year round.

Some of you will be surprised at the following link, the blog for Seattle’s Glute Free Girl.  We’ve had several customers ask about gluten free items, and since we’re a small shop, we don’t specialize in them (nor can we- there just isn’t enough space to have the extra equipment to not have cross-contamination).  So, we’ve started researching a bit for places for those customers to go.  This blog was pointed out as a great resource, and so we’re adding it to our list.  Plus, it has some great photos, and we’re suckers for good writing and photography.

So this isn’t a blog, but it is the website of Katerina’s family’s store in Princeton, NJ.  She will be taking over their bakery department next year, and will be helping to expand their product line.  If you’re out that direction, and hungry, I’d recommend stopping by.

Photography notes, tasty vegetarian food and cured meats, packaged with some really nice writing and an interactive readership- definitely a nice read!

Local pro-photographer and food enthusiast, Natasha Reed, has been reviewing the local Seattle and Portland food scene (and posting photos about it) for a couple of years now (or at least, that’s as far back as her archives go).  For your non-food interests, she also blogs about her client work and events (check out the Yo-Yo posts!).
